Lafayette, Louisiana (AP) — University of Louisiana-Lafayette professor emeritus Ray Bauer will spend four months in Brazil this year, collaborating with researchers to support that nation's shrimping industry.
The Advertiser reports Bauer has received the Fulbright-Brazil Scientific Mobility Program Distinguished Chair Award.
The award provides money for travel to and within Brazil, research, living expenses and a stipend.
The Fulbright Foundation fosters academic interchange between the United States and foreign countries.
Bauer will be in Brazil from August to December, working with biologists from Brazilian universities and teaching a course for graduate students.
