JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A baby boy has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition with severe head trauma.
Police are investigating a case of child abuse at an apartment complex on Bunker Hill Court in Mayport.
The boy is a year old, and police say he has brain swelling, but is expected to survive.
The boy's babysitter is being questioned by police at JSO headquarters downtown.
The Department of Children & Families is also getting involved. John Harrell, a DCF spokesman, says the agency is working with the JSO and military police. A child protection team is also working the case because the incident happened at a home with other children present.
