JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated an electrical fire at Advanced Disposal that injured two Pilot Electric workers.
According to the Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters, two electrical workers were injured. One of the injured was identified by family as Rickey Colley.
Colley was taken to UF Health Shands Gainesville. His family issued a statement about the incident:"A transformer blew up inhis face this morning. He has burns all over his face, neck and upper body," said a family member. "He was life-flighted to Gainesville's Shands Burn Center. We are still awaiting news."
The second worker also suffered burns and was transported to a hospital.
JFRD reports that the call came in at 7:48 a.m. from Advanced Disposal.
JFRD spokesman Tom Francis said the first engine that arrived at the scene was able to control whatever fire there was and canceled all other responding units.
