CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Clay Electric was able to restore electric for thousands of customers in Clay County Wednesday.
According to Clay Electric, more than 22,000 customers in Fleming Island, Doctors Inlet, Green Cove Springs, and Orange Park were without power.
Wayne Mattox, the Manager of Communications at Clay Electric, said there was a major transmission issue. It was located in the community of the Doctors Inlet.
At least 8,700 customers were without power around noon, Mattox said.
According to Clay Electric, a bad insulator was found at the Brickyard electric substation in Middleburg.
Power went out around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Mattox said.
