CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Crews are on the scene of an abandoned house fire that may be caused by the production of meth.

Thursday morning, the Clay County Sheriff's Office received multiple calls from neighbors in the Clay Hill area. They reported hearing a loud explosion.

Rescue units discovered a fire at an abandoned home at 1946 Open Woods Road. Detectives believe that someone may have been inside the home cooking meth earlier in the day.

No one was in the home at the time of the explosion. Some neighbors say the suspcious activity doesn't surprise.

"There's alot of abandoned mobile homes out here and I'm sure there's alot of people squatting here and all up and down the neighborhood. Everywhere," one said.

First reponders found meth production items in the home but have to wait for the Fire Marshall to determine that meth was the cause of the fire.

Neighbors are being interviewed and the investigation is ongoing.
