CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office says a son is facing charges after his mother was found dead in the yard of their home on Monday.

Police found Dede Etey, 46, dead in her yard on Edson Drive.

Police say 23-year-old Teyi Lawson was also found on the scene and taken into custody. He has been cleared medically at OPMC and will be transported to the Clay County Jail later today for booking on one charge of murder. Neighbors are shocked.

"If it was something that was all the time, you get used to it. But this is the first time. Never happened before," neighbor Travis Ingram said.

Etey's husband and adult daughter were not home at the time of the incident. Police say the family has lived at the home for about 10 years and they have not been called out to the home in the past.

"They keep to themselves. We didn't hear nothing. No problem. No commotion, anything until the cops showed up," neighbor Miriam Lopez said.

The Medical Examiner, on Tuesday, determined that Etey's cause of death was blunt force trauma to her head.
