JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tim Tebow has been released by the New York Jets, according to reports by NFL.COM.

Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner from Florida, was drafted by the Denver Broncos before being traded to the Jets last season.

He didn't play much. He started two games and went 6 of 8 for 39 yards. He had 32 rushing attempts for 102 yards.

This comes 3 days after the Jets used their second round pick in the draft to select quarterback Geno Smith from West Virginia.

Tebow, from Jacksonville, won a state title at Nease High School before winning two national championships and the Heisman Trophy with the Florida Gators.

What are your favorite Tebow moments?  Tebowing?  Tebow throwing the game-winning touchdown to carry the Denver Broncos past the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs?

I said it before and I'll keep on saying it. Tim Tebow is a fine young man. However he is, at best, a mediocre football player. I wish him the best in whatever he does, but I hope he doesn't waste his youth on football.

Hey Caldwell, are you serious? You really think that we have better QB's now than Tebow? Really? From what I see, we need Tebow a lot more than we need you. Mr. Khan you can keep my tickets.

why would Tim Tebow want to play with a losing team like the Jags. besides he is a Christain, and the owner of the Jags is a muslam and that won't mix.

I understand that the JAGS don't want him. Thank you Mr. Khan for saving me the cost of two sets of season tickets.

This just shows how stupid New Yorkers are, after the past 2 seasons Sanchez should have been traded for a better water boy. Tebow will get the job done if he's given a chance and allowed to take enough snaps.

No surprise here. The LORD will take care of him. Best of luck in your next endeavor.
