JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have canceled their investigation into a reported abduction, but say they are still trying to identify the boy at the center of the call.
A 14 year-old, who was walking home from school, says he saw an elderly man trying to lure a boy to his car with a stuffed animal. The teen went home and told his parents, who then called JSO.
Based on detailed description, police were able to find the man and his silver car on Aldington Drive. He was alone, and fully cooperated with investigators. His family tells police he likes to collect stuffed animals and give them away.
Since no child has been located, and there aren't any reports of one missing, police are now treating this like a normal investigation. The public is still encouraged to call if they see someone matching this description: white male with dark hair between the ages of six and eight, wearing black and white clothing, a Spider-Man backpack and sandals.
The teen first spotted him near the Family Dollar on Wilson Boulevard near Jammes Road. The 14 year-old is being praised for his quick thinking and decision to speak up when he saw something suspicious. For breaking news on the go, download the Action News Mobile App.
