WAYCROSS, Ga. -- The Waycross Police Department is at the scene of a shooting involving a police officer.
Capt. Danny Hampton would not release any more information about the incident, other than it's under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
A woman identified the shooting victim as her son, Jack Lamar Roberson, 43. She said he called 911 to get help for his diabetes and hypertension. Minutes later, according to the victim's mother, police entered the house.
The mother said Roberson put his hands up when police shot him. She also said the shooting was witnessed by his fiancee and daughter.
GBI had no comment when asked about the shooting.
Waycross police told Action News the two officers involved in the shooting are on administrative leave, which is standard after the use of lethal force.
