JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After hours of waiting for a man police thought was barricaded in a home, the standoff has now turned into a search for a fugitive.
SWAT units were called to the 11000 block of Beckley Place around 5 p.m., Sunday. Officers believed a man had locked himself inside a house. Action News has learned there were people in the home, but those people have been allowed to leave.
Police were not sure if the man had weapons so they shutdown the area and told residents to stay inside. Several attempts to make contact with the unidentified individual failed. Around 11 p.m., officers discovered the man was not inside of the home. Investigators did not release a description of the man but believe he is only a danger to himself.
