Boater, cat rescued off the coast of Brunswick
BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- U.S. Coast Guard Air Station members out of Savannah rescued a boater along with his cat off a sinking sailboat 38-miles east of Brunswick Friday.
Kevin Savage's boat "The Maggie" began taking on water due to swells of 10-foot sees and 30-knot winds just after sunrise Friday morning, according to the Coast Guard. Savage and his cat "Tommy Girl" were pulled from the sinking boat thanks to a registered distress alert device on board the vessel. Rescuers say that helped create a positive outcome.
