CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Human remains found in a local retention pond have been identified.

Investigators used dental records to prove that the bones belonged to 41-year-old Erenio Rodriguez.  Rodriguez was the subject of a missing persons case out of Jacksonville.  He had been missing for about a year.  Rodriguez was last seen in the Orange Park area.

A local 15-year-old boy discovered the bones this week in a retention pond near Wells Road in Orange Park.  Utility crews were in the process of draining the pond when the remains were first spotted.  The pond has been completely drained.

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the cause of death remains unknown at this time.
