Car swapped with stolen car

PALM COAST, Fla. -- Investigators in Palm Coast are looking for a clever car thief.

A man told detectives that someone stole his daughter's car and replaced it in his driveway with an exact replica.

The man said he had been repairing a Nissan Altima in his driveway since March. He tried to start it up recently but the car wouldn't budge. He had it towed to a dealer where workers told the man the car had been stolen out of Volusia County.

The man planned to have the car cleaned up as a surprise for his daughter when she came home on leave. A stolen car report has been filed.
