ST AUGUSTINE, Fla -- A St Johns County deaf man is in police custody, accused of forcing a 13-year-old boy to perform oral sex on him.
William Muse, 25, faces felony charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious behavior.
Police say Muse actually reported the incident himself, but claimed the 13-year-old stalked him, forced him into a parking garage, then claimed the boy fondled him. Police quickly figured out Muses' story just didn't ad up. It was the other way around.
Police say Muse lured the developmentally disabled boy into a parking garage off Cordova Street.
"He was kind of taken up to the fourth floor of the parking garage and asked to have sex with this adult man," said Mark Samson with St Augustine Police.
The boy told police the incident happened in a stairwell. He was eventually able to get away.
"Its hard to believe it happens in your backyard," said Karen Grimaldi. "It definitely needs to be stopped. He's a monster."
Grimaldi was disgusted to learn what transpired. She says it goes to show how crucial it is for parents to talk with their kids about stranger danger - no matter the age.
"The conversation has to start really early and its frightening for parents to have to put that out there for their children you know you just hope that you've given then enough background and they're never in that situation," she said.
Police say Muse did end up confessing to the crimes.
Police say after Muse reported the incident, officers went out and located the 13-year-old. He originally denied meeting Muse or being in the parking garage, then later admitted what happened.
