Macclenny, Fla.-- A local family is reunited with their lost dog after it went missing 2 years ago.
Gage has been running around chasing toys and rolling over for a good rub all day. It's the first time he's seen his owners in two years. Gage was a birthday gift for Dalton Perry two years ago, but that all changed one night. "We put him in a pen one evening and the next morning check on him and he was gone," said Dalton's mom Ashley Perry.
Dalton and his mom searched, but finally they gave up. Then this week, they got the call from animal services in Nassau County. Their dog was found all the way up in Calahan. Deborah Biggs says they used the micro chip in gage to find his owners. It wasn't easy though. The number that came up wasn't in service.
Finally the sheriff's office tracked the Perry's down. Biggs said if it wasn't for the chip, the dog probably wouldn't see its owners ever again. "You can't see them from the outside. They are an internal id, and you can always get the animal back."
If your animal has a micro-chip, all you have to do to update your contact information is get in touch with the company that makes the chip.
