Gainesville man attacked by an alligator
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A Gainesville man is in the hospital tonight after he was attacked by an alligator.
A representative from the Gainesville Fire Department says the man went into the water near a tent city to cool off when he got attacked.
Another man threw a concrete block and hit the gator, scaring it off.
Rescue crews arrived and pulled the man from the water where he was rushed to the hospital with extensive wounds to his chest and extremities.
Gainesville police and Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission are investigating the incident.
