Genius Middleburg teen wins prestigious award
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- James Hilt is only 16. However, what he's experienced in his young life is nothing short of impressive. The Middleburg High School junior was recently awarded an "Excellence in Research" award from the American Physiological Society of America at the 2013 International Science and Engineering fair held in Phoenix.
Hilt has diabetes. His winning project was "Pumper's Paradise." It's where fast-acting insulin analog works most efficiently and was based on a study of his blood-glucose levels.
It's a big award for Hilt. But helping to find a cure for Type1 diabetes would be the biggest prize of a lifetime.
