Georgia July Primary Election results

BRUNSWICK, GA – The polls are closed across Georgia and results for the July General Primary Election are coming in.

The biggest proposal is the T-SPLOST, adding a penny sales tax to fund transportation projects in Georgia.

The T-SPLOST is broken up into regions. Region 12 includes Camden and Glynn counties. Region 11 includes Charlton, Ware, Brantley and Pierce counties.

The latest results show in Region 12, with most of the precincts reporting, 57 percent said no, while 43 percent said yes.

In Region 11, 42 percent said yes while 58 percent said no.

In other races across South Georgia, for U.S. House District 1, Republican Jack Kingston got 100 percent of the vote.  On the Democratic side, Lesli Messinger has 58 percent of the vote while Nathan Russo has 41 percent. 

In Camden County, incumbent Tommy Gregory has won over Bill Smith, 53 to 46 percent, in the race for sheriff.  Jackie Johnson will return to her job as District Attorney after winning over Jonathan Miller, III, 74 percent to 25 percent.
