Lawrence Stanford, 29, of Live Oak, was arrest on burglary charges on Monday. He is being held without bond on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, grand theft, resisting arrest without violence, and violation of probation.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office responded to a home burglary in progress on Southwest Sunset Way.

Stanford was seen running from the area when patrol units arrived. A perimeter was established utilizing sheriff's office and Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission units. A K-9 unit from the Florida Department of Corrections was also on scene.

The suspect allegedly attempted to steal the copper wiring from at least three homes in the area. It is believed that he fled when he noticed the Columbia County Sheriff's Office units. Detectives and deputies made contact with Stanford at a home at 1700 S.E. McFarlane Ave.

A search warrant for the property was obtained and a thorough search conducted. A large amount of stolen property has been recovered.
Some of the items recovered were stolen from residences in Columbia County as well as from Lake City residences.

Due to the amount of property being discovered, it will take several days to determine what property has been reported stolen and from which jurisdiction.
Officials say additional arrests are possible.
