JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Bolles student finished second in the semi-finals of the 200 meter backstroke, qualifying him for the finals for a chance to make it on the 2012 Summer Olympics team in London.

Ryan Murphy, 16, has been swimming for Bolles for the past four years.

Ryan will be swimming in the 200-meter backstroke finals on Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska.

His chances of making the team improved because Matt Grevers, the favorite, has scratched a race at the trials. Grevers thought he would skip Friday night's final of the 100-meter freestyle, even though he was the third fastest qualifier in the semi-finals.

Grevers came back for the 200-meter backstroke in the morning preliminaries but didn't want Friday evening's semi-final race to hurt his chances for the final for the 100-meter freestyle later that evening.
