JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A 66-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after a man attacked her during an attempted carjacking.

Police say Donnie McClain, 55, punched the woman in her face and head Monday morning at 3rd Street South. The woman was taken to Mayo Clinic with minor injuries.

The victim told police that McClain forced her to give him her car keys, according to a police official. The woman also told police that McClain threatened her by saying he had a gun.

A 51-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman were also attacked by McClain when they tried to help the victim, police officials said.

Those two women did not have any serious injuries, according to police officials.

McClain is charged with carjacking, aggravated battery on a person 65 years old or older, and two counts of battery.
