Longtime bishop of Bethel Baptist retires
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Longtime pastor Rudolph McKissick Sr. handed over the reins of Bethel Baptist church to his son Sunday.
The pastor spent nearly five decades at the pulpit.
"I'm satisfied, it's a God move. It's like I'm satisfied that he has approved my terminating as pastor," McKissick said during a recent interview.
McKissick's last message was said to be a word from the heart- not different than that given at any other Sunday Sermon.
Bethel Baptist church has been around for 175 years and is the oldest black church in the State of Florida.
