LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Columbia County man was arrested after a fight with an investigator from the Department of Children & Families and sheriff deputies.

The fight happened at the Players club.  DCF had a court order to take custody of a male infant.

Deputies learned Shiloh Champion, his child, and the child's mother were sitting in a car outside the Players Club on U.S. 90 West on Tuesday.

DCF and the deputies explained they had a court order to take the child from him. Instead of handing the child over, he handed the child to the mother.

Deputies asked Champion to step out of the car.  Instead, deputies say Champion slammed the door and put the car in reverse.

Deputies attempted to stop Champion, but he struck the DCF investigator's car.

Champion then attempted to put the vehicle into forward. While he was doing this, deputies were able to gain control of Champion and put him in restraints.

Champion faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.

He's also being held on two warrants out of Alabama where he's from.
