JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man who shot another man during an argument is going to prison for attempted murder.

Michael Daniel Johnson, Jr., shot E.J. James in September of 2010 after a fight.

Johnson, 23, was sentenced to life in prison. His criminal past includes convictions for burglary, grand theft, and eluding police.

"This sentence sends a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated in our community," said Assistant State Attorney David Thompson.
