PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A Putnam County man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for a 2011 shooting.

Torrence Alvin Denegal, 27, was convicted in November for the shooting of Robert Lee Durden. Denegal will serve a life term for each count: Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

Denegal qualifies as a prison release reoffender because he committed the crime a year after being released from prison.

Denegal shot Durden in a Palatka bar April 17, 2011 over an ongoing dispute between the two families.
