Man gets two life terms in officers' shootings

PALATKA, Fla. -- A man was sentenced to two life terms in the shooting of an officer and death of another man.
Avery Corbitt, 21, was given two life terms in the death of Rodrigo Espinoza and the attempted murder of Officer David Tiller.

Tiller, who testified at the sentencing hearing Friday morning, was shot in the leg by Corbitt.

The charges of Second Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder came after the investigation found

Corbitt offered to sell drugs and guns to undercover officers, when he and his accomplices planned to rob the officers. Corbitt and his accomplices drew guns on the undercover officers and an exchange of gunfire ensued killing Corbitt's accomplice, Rodrigo Espinoza, and seriously wounding Tiller.
