JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman is in critical condition at a local hospital after her husband shot her and then himself in their Northside home.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to a home on the 3400 block of Hickory Landing Court Thursday afternoon after a neighbor heard gun shots.
When rescue units arrived, they found a dead male and a female who had been shot but was still alive. The female was transported to UF & Shands Jacksonville in critical condition.
The investigation revealed that Robert Frederick Griffin, 43, shot the female during an argument and then turned the gun on himself.
19-year-old Dylan Griffin told Action News that the victims are his parents.
"I don't know what to think," he said. "It's just basically a nightmare."
The teen says he awoke to the sound of a fight between his parents in the other room, and then heard gunshots.
"I heard arguing and just yelling," said Griffin. "Then all I heard was, bang bang!"
Thats when Griffin said he went down to see what happened. He says that's when he found both his parents shot, and told his neighbors to call 911.
That's little solace for Griffin, who witnessed an awful tragedy, no child ever should. "It's something you'd never expect from them," said Griffin. "Nobody every saw it coming."
