Man taken into protective custody after standoff in Fort White
FORT WHITE, Fla. -- A man is being evaluated at a crisis center following a 3-hour standoff.
Deputies responded to a report of a man wanting to harm himself at a home off Southwest Pathfinder Glenn.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office decided to send a SWAT team, knowing that the man had weapons in the home.
After hours of negotiations, the man left his home. Deputies deployed an electronic control device to take the man into protective custody. Authorities took him to a crisis intervention facility for evaluation. He is not facing criminal charges.
