JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Kimberly Wilburn has tried it all.
She's gone online, sent in paper resumes, even called around to find a job. After three years and no leads...she decided to take her search on the road. Literally.
"It started out as a joke. Let's rent a billboard, but here recently, after trying everything, it's become a reality. My husband contacted Clear Channel and we went from there," she said.
That idea translated into an electronic billboard. It's posted on I-95 near University Boulevard, facing north. Starting Tuesday, it will be exposed to an estimated 87,000 adults...age 18 and over, and stay in rotation for 24 hours.
As of Wednesday afternoon, she had not gotten any responses.
"This is definitely the boldest thing I've ever done," she continued.
Wilburn is a mom of three young boys and a civil engineer, who graduated with honors from Georgia Tech. She specializes in commercial and subdivision land development, but when the housing market crashed...so did her job.
She's applied to a number of fields, including secretarial work, but has been told she's either over qualified, gets an automated response, or none at all.
At this point, all she wants is a foot in the door, and the chance to interact with someone face to face.
"I hope this is it. I hope it will do it for me," she said with a smile.
Wilburn says this billboard is probably the last straw for her. If she doesn't get any offers, most likely she's going to give up the search, pack up her family and leave.
