JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Ribault's back! That's the motto on the walls...and the proof in the pudding.
"Been a lot of work by a lot of people over time, and we're seeing some of the fruition of that in the school grades," Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals said.
Ribault...once known as underperforming, is now soaring. Not only is it off the intervene list, but according to the school superintendent... up next is most likely a "B."
"It's given the kids a lot of positivity to look forward to and to me, in general...it's affected our school culture," English teacher Priscilla Allen said.
Allen says the change started with her and her colleagues coming in with a positive attitude and believing in their students. The rest naturally fell into place.
"After school tutoring, making sure all the athletes attend tutoring. Making sure teachers have meetings on Wednesdays. We stay on Tuesdays and kind of plan and talk about our students," she continued.
Andrew Jackson and Raines High School have also turned things around. Pratt-Dannals says those two are expecting a "C" and he couldn't be prouder of the progress district-wide.
"First, we had to change the reality...now we're changing the perception. I think that's beginning to happen."
Final school grades are expected out sometime in November or December. The second half grades and graduation rates still have to be factored in.
