ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Before a crowd of a couple hundred in Orange Park, Marco Rubio was all smiles Monday night.
But beneath his grin, the senator tells Action News he's not at all happy with the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the President's signature health care law.
"I think states have been put in a difficult spot by what the Obama administration has done," said Rubio.
Pulling up in his tour bus to the Orange Park Mall, the possible Republican vice presidential nominee arrived to sign copies of his new book, "An American Son."
Rubio also told Action News he agrees with Governor Rick Scott’s declaration for Florida to opt out of portions of the new law.
"I do," said Rubio, "I think it's in the best interest of the state. I don't think Florida will be the only state that decides that. Obamacare has been a disaster from the beginning."
The President’s Affordable Care Act calls for Medicaid to cover more than just the nation’s poorest. The ACA extends coverage for Americans earning up to 38 percent over the poverty line.
Last week’s Supreme Court decision allows states to opt out of this Medicaid expansion.
Governor Scott says Florida will opt out to hopefully save tax payers money in the long run. While Florida's Republican senator agrees, his Democratic counterpart says opting out will cost the state billions of federal dollars.
Senator Bill Nelson said, "I think I suspect the Governor will change his mind when he figures out what the law is."
