JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The St. Johns River Ferry is out of service until further notice after stress fractures were discovered in the hull plate of the ferry.
Jaxport officials say a small amount of water is seeping into the vessel but is being pumped out.
The U.S. Coast Guard has instructed that the ferry be removed from service. Follow-up inspections and a repair plan are being developed. The ferry will be taken out of the water for repairs.
Riders should expect the ferry to be out of service for at least the next several days, according to Jaxport's Nancy Rubin.
