JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two local schools had a very special guest last week.
SUBWAY's national spokesman Jared Fogle stopped by Bayview Elementary School and the Harvest Community School on Nov. 6 to promote his fight against childhood obesity.
More than 1,200 Duval County elementary school students joined SUBWAY's Fit for Life 15-day challenge in an effort to inspire kids to be healthy and active every day.
From Nov. 6 until Thanksgiving, those students will be tracking their healthy eating and physical activity choices.
"I've learned to accept that keeping a healthy lifestyle is going to be a lifelong struggle," said Fogle. "Hopefully, by discussing healthy choices with children at an early age, students and teachers can encourage each other to live a healthy life. My hope is that when students are my age, health is not a thought, it is a habit."
