GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A woman is in the hospital tonight after being run over by a truck while sunbathing on Sunday.
Gainesville firefighters responded to 316 NW 14th St. in Gainesville and found a 23-year-old female had been run over by a full-sized pick-up truck.
The woman had been sunbathing when the truck backed up and one tire rolled directly over her head. The incident left a noticeable depression in the lawn.
Lt. Tracey Hidgon said "It was very fortunate she was on softer ground where this occurred or the injuries may have been much worse if not fatal."
The woman was conscious and was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville under a trauma alert.
