JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On what would have been Ray Charles’ 83rd birthday, the United States Postal Service will release a limited edition Forever stamp as a tribute to his musical legacy.
The U.S. Postal Service will dedicate the new stamp with two first-day-of-issue ceremonies on Monday, Sept. 23, in Atlanta at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College in Atlanta and at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
Music legend Ray Charles has moved thousands of musicians, young and old, with such hits as “Georgia On My Mind” and the iconic rendition of “America the Beautiful”.
Charles had ties to the Northeast Florida area, he attended the Florida School for Deaf and Blind.
The stamp will be available on Monday, September 23 at your local post office and online at: www.usps.com/stamps.
