JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police in Jacksonville arrested 11 contractors for soliciting work without a state license.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office worked with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations, Northeast Florida Builders Association and Florida's Department of Financial Services to make the arrests on Friday.
A JSO detective went undercover to get estimates for jobs that require a state license. This included services like plumbing, electrical and other remodeling services.
"Our investigators did outstanding work on this sting operation, in partnership with DBPR. We do want to remind everyone that many crimes of opportunity, like property crimes and economic crimes are preventable if citizens exercise caution," said Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt.
The suspects arrested are: Thomas Michutka, Charles Klingensmith, Paul Oldfield, Wahab Olaunji, Nathan Daniel, Robert Woods, William McGouey, Dave Roaldson, Robert Geis, Daniel Zygmont, Mark Dugger and Charles Davis. Charles Davis was arrested for having an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. The 11 others were arrested for unlicensed contracting.
