JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- If you live in Florida....you know a thing or two about bugs. The problem is, they're starting to get a little too close for comfort.

"During the six weeks we had a drought, then all of a sudden the past few days we've had some heavy rains...that is going to push them inside the home," Justin Burlingame said.

Ants, spiders and roaches are all seeking stability and shelter. Burlingame with Home Team Pest Defense says they're trying to get the unwanted guests before they find that inside your home.

"They tend to gravitate towards those areas and sit there for a period of time and that's when people start to see them," he continued.

Burlingame and his crew usually do a three step process. They set up a outdoor barrier...sweep and spray it...then put out a granular bait.

Pests do have a role to play in keeping the ecosystem balanced...so if they keep them in their homes, and us comfortable in ours...it's a victory.

"Our biggest thing is making sure we put up a protective barrier around the home to keep them away," Burlingame said.

One thing you can do at home to keep bugs out is monitor your entry ways. That means making sure windows and doors are properly sealed.
