Hello, my name is Alyana Gomez and I am excited to join the Action News Team, as one of their newest reporters. As a small town Jersey girl, I loved visiting the Sunshine State to see family and the Southern beaches. Living here now will be quite an adventure!
Coming from Salisbury, Maryland, as an Anchor/Reporter, I loved delving into breaking news, which helped me win several Associated Press awards for Outstanding Enterprise Reporting, In-Depth Reporting, and Spot News. However, my passion for real people with stories that tug at the hearts of our viewers is what captured many.
While on the Delmarva Peninsula, I was waist deep, covering two hurricanes that devastated the area. Seeing the damage and the emotional impact is an experience I will never forget.
Growing up in a tight-knit community, I grew fond of community-driven stories, and was even invited to host the 28th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Birthday Celebration and Commemoration.
Finding fun in the field was my expertise. I love being able to tell a story in a comedic way that will make others laugh.
My career started as a girl singing and dancing, microphone in hand, in my moms living room with big dreams of making it on the small screen.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at Salisbury University. There, I was instantly intrigued by news and the role I could play in the community as a journalist.
Soon after, I found my inspiration: being able to give a voice to those who didn't have one.
When I'm not in the field, or the newsroom, I am in the comfort of good food and great people. I am a foodie to the fullest, but get my balance through a high energy zumba workout!
If you catch me in the field, be sure to say hello! If you have any story ideas or tips just send me an email
