Dawn Lopez is the anchor of Action News in the Morning at 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. and Action News at Noon.

Dawn is a home grown talent. She was born and raised right here on the First Coast. She is an alumna of Wolfson High School and the University of North Florida. Dawn says the best part of her job is having the privilege of delivering the news to the hometown folks.

After graduation, Dawn moved to Columbus, Georgia to do general assignment reporting at ABC affiliate WTVM-9. Her next move was to WGHP-TV, a FOX owned and operated station in High Point, North Carolina. In Carolina, Dawn anchored the investigative & consumer team at FOX-8 News.

Dawn is actively involved in community work – making speaking engagements with local schools and organizations. Dawn works to help First Coast foster children get adopted with her weekly franchise segment called “Jacksonville’s Children.”

During the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Dawn orchestrated collaboration between a local clothing mission and Oklahoma City-based “Feed the Children” that sent 1.2 million dollars worth of brand new clothing to hurricane victims on the gulf coast. Dawn believes we all must do our part to help make this world a better place.

Every Friday at 5:30pm and Monday at noon, Dawn’s special segment “Jacksonville’s Children” airs. It highlights local children who are up for adoption. Since the franchise began there has been nearly a 60% success rate. She's gotten local, state and national awards for the segment. Local judges, police officers, churches and council members have also given special recognition to Dawn and Action News for their support.

On Dawn’s days off she enjoys the beach life and lots of fun in the sun with her 5-year old twins. She is also a sign language interpreter at her church and enjoys the new experience of talking with her hands.
