Erica Bennett comes to the Action News Team from the Bayou State of Louisiana. For two years, she covered everything from hurricanes to police-involved shootings for the NBC-affiliate in Shreveport.
Her love and drive for story-telling started years ago, however, in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. While most kids were out playing, she was inside telling tales of faraway lands and taking part in Young Authors Writing contests. She took that same youthful passion to the University of Missouri, and became a proud graduate of the School of Journalism. While in the Midwest, she also worked at KOMU-TV, where she learned the basics of becoming a great reporter.
Erica says, to her, news is more than a job: it's a responsibility. It's about giving a voice to the public, and being informative and fair. When she's not chasing news, Erica enjoys spending time with loved ones, relaxing by water, and playing with her Russian Tortoise named "Pig." She’s also a big sports fan, and can be found cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, or Missouri Tigers.
