JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Going to the beach wasn't easy for blacks in the 1950s.
Despite miles of coastline in Northeast Florida, there were only a few spots where black people could go to enjoy the sun and the surf.
American Beach on Amelia Island was one of them.
This picture shows the Rosier family enjoying the sun and the sand in the summer of 1958.
