JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The U.S. Postal Service is honoring Rosa Parks, a civil rights icon, as part of Black History month.
She became a cog in the fight for civil rights after her arrest in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955 for refusing to give up her seat to a white man.
On February 4, Parks' 100th birthday, the USPS will release a Forever Stamp in honor of the activist.
The stamp is the second in a series of three civil rights stamps celebrating freedom, courage and equality. The first stamp recognized the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. The final stamp in the series will recognize the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
