Scattered afternoon heavy storms will continue Thu. & Fri. with afternoon highs in the 90s.  Check out the frame below from our Jack Hanania Volkswagon of Orange Park skycam network at Jax Beach. -- classic shelf cloud on the leading edge of a heavy t'storm (that never made it to the beach):

Also...classic on our 4th of July.....a collision between the sea breeze moving inland over Duval Co. & an outflow boundary from storms to the west.  The collision occurred between 5 & 6pm & helped t'storms to increase over metro Jax before quickly winding down between 7:30 & 8:30 so that fireworks could go off without much problem.  Fleming Island hit 99 degrees Wed. then had 1.4" of rain....JIA had 0.79"...San Marco managed just 0.3".

No surprise, but we've pretty much wiped out the extreme drought conditions over all of NE Fl./SE Ga.  Check out the map below.  Our Jax N.W.S. has also completed a river flood survey of the St. Marys River.  Click here for the comprehensive compilation of photos, maps & water levels.
