A weak cool front will bring a brief return to cooler air Wed. with highs in the 60s then it's back to an extended stretch of mild temps. Thu. through the weekend into early next week. Highs will be 70+ through the period.  A persistent -- though generally not particularly strong -- onshore east wind will keep temps. cooler during the day at the beaches but milder at night.  While a few showers may move inland off the Atlantic from time to time, no significant widespread rain is likely before at least the middle of next week.

After what's been a very benign weather pattern -- for the most part -- since "Sandy" a month ago, there are some signs of a potentially more "energetic"/active pattern developing by the 2nd week of Dec.

A beautiful First Alert photo below from Claude McGehee in St. Marys, Ga. shows the reflection at sunrise of altocumulus clouds - spectacular!

'Tis the season for holiday activities:
** Action News is again the media sponsor this year for the Salvation Army's "Angel Tree".  There are names on the angel tags (prescreened by the Salvation Army after applications were submitted in Oct.)....you take your tag, shop for the child then return the bag full of gifts by Dec. 14th.  For more details & related Salvation Army & Angel Tree stories, click here.

** Action News will ring the bell for the Salvation Army's red kettle Sat., Dec. 1st at the Publix off I-295 & Baymeadows, S'side.  All kettle money raised locally stays local.

** Sat., Dec. 1st is also the day of a fun holiday event at UNF.
The 8th Annual Feast of Carols will again be hosted by the University of North Florida as part of the second season of the Jacksonville Sings! Choral Initiative. This year, the Feast of Carols will join the musical forces of the city on UNF's own 1,300-seat Lazzara Performance Hall, and we look forward to the possibility of sharing this concert with you this year. To add to the festive nature of this year's event, the Salvation Army will be ringing the bell for the Red Kettle, and there will be community activities including pictures with Santa, etc. Recognized local television personality Mike Buresh will be co-hosting the concert.
