More rain for Thu. after nearly 1.4" at JIA Wed. Showers will become more scattered Fri. into the weekend, but it will still be wet at times which could affect the Jags' game. Temps. will be very warm & muggy with highs still reaching well into the 80s. There still looks to be some relief early next week with a wind shift to the northeast bringing cooler, drier air.

Which brings me to the great announcement from the "sensational" weather network (that seems to spend a
lot of time not talking weather) that the channel will name winter storms this season. My 2 cents worth: I don't like it & will not use their naming system.

In the 1980s, Arctic sea ice extent Arctic roughly= to all of the contiguous USA, minus Washington & Oregon.
In September 2007, the ice cover = only the western half of US (white + light blue); dark blue = open water;
The September 2012 ice cover = just the white area; while the light blue & dark blue = open wate
