The "local" Nor'easter is well underway. Strong high pressure over Northern New England will move into the NW Atlantic & is helping to cause a strong northeast onshore wind. Gusts will reach & exceed 40 mph through late Tue. creating rough seas & surf & a very dangerous rip current risk at area beaches. Bands of rain -- oriented east/west -- will move west or west/southwest producing heavy rain at times. These bands will weaken quite a bit once near & west of Highway 301.

This Nor'easter is referred to as "local" because it's primarily caused by strong high pressure to the north of the First Coast & the clockwise circulation around the high creates strong onshore east to northeast winds. This kind of Nor'easter is versus a classic Nor'easter along the U.S. east coast that's caused by intense low pressure that moves north or northeast near or just off the eastern seaboard.

The "local" Nor'easter will begin to break down Wed. & temps. will quickly warm reaching near 80 degrees Wed. & into the 80s Thu.

This latest round of rain follows the cold front-spawned rain Fri. night-Sat. morning that dropped rain on all of the First Coast. Rainfall averaged a quarter to 3/4" of rain on the N & W side of Duval Co. & areas north & west to a swath of 1-2"+ from Clay Co. through S & E Duval Co. including the beaches to far Eastern Nassau Co. & Camden & Glynn Co. in Ga.
