Our first shot at decent rain in about 3 weeks will arrive Tue. just in time for Election Day. The last significant rain for most of the First Coast was way back on Oct. 14th, so we need the rain, but it will make for an inconvenience for voting (but still vote!) & for travel. While it looks like rain will occur everywhere, amounts don't look to be all that much despite periods of heavier showers. The amounts & how long rain lasts will be contingent on exactly where the developing low pressure goes which appears to be near or just south of I-10. On such a track, the most persistent rain would be across SE Ga. with amounts averaging a half to 3/4 of an inch. Rainfall for metro Jax & NE Fl. will average a quarter to a half inch. The swift movement of the weather system will also be a limiting factor on rain totals. Once the storm passes, cooler air will return to the First Coast along with mostly dry weather. An upper level disturbance will trigger a few afternoon showers Wed. but with little accumulation. Thu. through the weekend will become dry with cool temps. Thu.-Fri. beginning to warm Fri. afternoon through the weekend. Onshore winds could bring a few showers to the coast Sunday but -- again -- amounts will be light & widely scattered.
The "Election Day storm" will head up the east coast of the U.S. for midweek bringing a round of wind & rain to some of the same areas hit by "Sandy". While the Nor'easter is not anything out of the realm of "average" as such storms go, this storm will only add salt to the wounds for those trying to clean up & recover from the "Superstorm".

So the Jags' game Thu. night will easily be the coolest of the season so far here in Jax. Classic football weather for the 8:20pm kickoff under clear skies, light winds & temps. that will dip into the 40s by the 2nd half.

Then Fri. night it's is the Navy Marine Corps Basketball Classic on the deck of the USS Bataan at Naval Station Mayport. It'll be a chilly evening but skies will be clear with only light winds from the NE. Temps. will dip into the 50s during the game.
