The sea breeze helped trigger afternoon storms Wed. afternoon. Expect the same for Thu. & Fri. before a wind shift to onshore winds brings generally drier weather & somewhat cooler temps. for the weekend into early next week. Storm photos below are from Samantha Brown, Hastings, Fl. where lightning hit a tree... Robert Mumford - Elkton, Fl. - gust front on the leading edge of t'storms... Bethany Lee Auchter, Flemins Island.. & the last one is mammatus over the Action News building that I snapped.

The tropics have perked up a little bit. T.D. #7 -- which wil likely become "Gabrielle" -- is close to Puerto Rico. This system will stay well east of Jax & all of Fl. The far E. Atlantic will become more active in the coming days, but early indications are that the systems might have a tough time making it much beyond the Central Atlantic. A wet cell phone does not necessarily mean a ruined cell phone. DryBox -- click ** here ** claims their invention will get a wet cell phone running again. Some practical tips from the company:

According to DryBox Rescue inventors the below are the Dos and Dont’s for a wet phone:
1. DON’T put in in rice – starch ruins it.
2. DON’T plug it in – this could lead to electric shock
3. DO power it off
4. DO remove the battery if you can
5. DON’T power it back on
6. Absolutely DON’T use a hair dryer to dry it out
