A "messy" weather pattern this week into the weekend. A generally wetter scenario should culminate with some decent rain late Fri. into the weekend. But there will be a couple of shots of rain prior to the bigger storm towards the weekend:
** A slow moving front will settle southward across the First Coast Tue. accompanied by scattered showers & a few t'storms. Rainfall should average less than a half inch -- & in many areas -- less than quarter of an inch but the few spots that manage a storm could get more than a half inch.
** The front will become stationary over or near Central Fl. to the south of Jax. Moisture streaming north across the front + a weak upper level weather disturbance will combine for some light rain Wed. The clouds combined with northeast onshore winds will make for much cooler temps. with highs struggling to get out of the 60s.
** The next storm system arrives very late Fri. into the weekend pulling the front to the south northward as a warm front to then be followed by a cold front. The set-up appears to be somewhat similar to the very wet few days a couple of weeks ago. There will be the potential for widespread & heavy rain from about late Fri. through early Sunday or so. Much will depend on the exact position of the front.
This week is "Flood Safety Awareness Week". Flooding isn't always given the respect it deserves but often kills more people annually than most other weather phenomena. Click **
