Another afternoon & evening of storms for the First Coast Tue.  We'll have more showers & heavy storms Wed. before storms become a bit more scattered Thu. & Fri. only to increase again over the weekend.  Tuesday's storms provided some excellent cloud viewing.  Photos below are from Lisa T.....Mark Patterson, Pelican Pt., Jax Beach...Leah Ball, Dames Pt. Bridge...Debby, Middleburg...Jeffrey Brebner, Oakleaf...Jason Rayner...Dawn, Middleburg...Katie Murphy, Oakleaf...Paul Burt, Mayport NS...Cindy Murrill, Lake City.

The last image is from our Jack Hanania skycam from the Quality Inn at Jax Beach looking north toward a well-developed roll cloud/gust front.

From NOAA....
Red sprites shoot above the tops of clouds in bright red spurts and last only milliseconds. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station were recently lucky enough to capture one on camera. Watch the video to see a red sprite explode above a large lightning flash in April 2012.
Click here & here (same as image below courtesy NOAA)to see the sprites along with some explanation.
